UX/UI Design

Kimball and Beecher

Participating in the UX/UI Academy at Visual Logic was a great experience. Students that were chosen to be part of the program learned about the user experience process. For a year, I was fortunate to take part in a practice program with improving the user experience at Kimball & Beecher.

The Mission

The first step we took was defining the company's goals. The main goal was to create a better user experience for a new patient and existing patient. This consisted of when the patient first calls, goes to their appointment, checks out / reschedules and leaves.

User Research and Personas

Our next step was collecting data from user research to create personas. We created 3 different personas for each of our targeted users: Front desk worker,  new patient, and existing patient.

For each persona we created a mental model. These mental models represented scenarios of each target user. The scenarios showcased the process, and other factors, of booking an appointment, arriving, and scheduling a follow up visit.

Final Design

As our final project, we created a booklet for Kimball and Beecher of our user research process. In addition to creating ideas for a better user experience, we designed a new brand guide within the process.

Although our project was slightly different than normal projects, I enjoyed the process of UX/UI design. There is a lot that I learned from UX/UI design and have incorporated throughout my design career.

*These are examples from the final booklet to demonstrate what we did in the UX/UI Academy.
